Islamabad : Oct 30 : At a time when the people of Pakistan are moaning under killing price-hike and growing unemployment and some of them are committing suicides for not having even a single meal per day , the caretaker government of Mr Kakar has dropped a massive gas on the consumers including domestic sector.
According to an official announcement made by Energy ministry on Monday night, the gas prices are going to increase for domestic sector by 172 % and even more for other sectors like fertilizer, industrial and commercial sector .
The Energy ministry has passed on the buck of the increased gas prices on Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). It said the increase in gas prices has been made on the summary of OGRA.
According to the Energy ministry OGRA suggested the massive increase in the gas prices. The new gas prices will come into effect from November 1, 2023. The caretakers decision to increase the gas prices by 172 % for domestic sector in one go is like making the people’s lives extremely painful. The people are in serious trouble due to slow down of the economy and in such an environment ,the government decision to increase the gas prices by 172% for domestic sector is just an unfortunate development . The Energy ministry, instead holding OGRA responsible of the latest increase in the gas prices, must take responsibility of it.
The Energy ministry should also tell the people of this country what is the level of gas theft in Pakistan. It will make the public of this country understand who has played a role in making gas sector collapsed and take its circular debt to Rs 2.3 trillion. NEWSMAN understands the policy makers and gas companies which are directly involved in gas theft are responsible of the sad affairs of gas sector . The domestic sector is not responsible for the gas crisis.
