ISLAMABAD : Jan 29,2023: The government on Sunday revised upward massively the prices of petroleum products with immediate effect .
Finance minister , Ishaq Dar announced the increase in the prices of petroleum products at a press briefing.
According to the Finance minister , the prices of each diesel and petrol have been increased by Rs 35 a litre . The prices of each kerosin and light speed diesel have been revised upward by Rs 18 a litre.

According to Mr Ishaq Dar , the new prices of the petroleum products have been made effective from Sunday at 11 AM.
Mr Dar said the announcement of the revised prices of petroleum products have been made two days in advance to counter their hoarding and shortage .
As per routine , the announcement for any change in the rates of petroleum products was due on January 31,2023.
Expecting a big increase in the rates of petroleum products for next fortnight , the dealers had stopped supply of petroleum prodicts in all major cities of Pakistan and the Shahbaz Sharif led coalition government rather than taking action against the hoarders opted to make the commuters a scapegoat.
The way the Shahbaz Sharif ‘s led government is acting to facilitate the mafias its unprecedented .
In the past the government. used to take some action to protect the public interest, but the PMLN led government, headed by Shahbaz Sharif, is taking every step like one taken today to increase the prices of petroleum products two days in advance to make the end users’ lives miserable.
The massive increase in petroleum product prices will open up a new floodgate of price hike in the country to have killing affect on the people”s lives.
The inflation which is already over 32 % will further increase in coming weeks to create more difficulties in the lives of the people .
Since coming in of PDM rule , the people of Pakistan have been dumped under unbearable inflation. It seems the government has only one agenda to hang on to the power to enjoy iit and it has no interest in the people of Pakistan.
Sunday’s decision of increasing the prices of petroleum products have been taken to appease trh International Monetary Fund (IMF) to get more loans and put more burden of debt on already debt trapped Pakistan.
