This picture was taken on Monday 4th September 2023 at 7.40 PM at Islamabad. No words or tribute can truly encapsulate the honor due to these women captured in the picture, who have made remarkable contributions to the lives of others. What more can one expect from individuals who dedicate their lives to serving humanity without seeking worldly rewards or recognition?
Here, we see a group of revered nuns from the Presentation Sisters, led by the Honorable Sister Riffat in Pakistan. Alongside her are her dedicated team of fellow sisters, including the esteemed Sister Teresa, who currently serves as the Principal of my beloved Alma Mater, Public School Sangota Swat.
Among the attendees are two other courageous and honorable ladies: Begum Prince Adnan Aurangzeb and Begum Prince Asfandyar Amirzeb. The latter, being spouse of a former Education Minister of KP, who gave his life in defense of his people and homeland, truly embodying the spirit of loyalty to his fatherland where he shed the last drop of his blood.
Begum Zainab Adnan and Begum Falaknaz Afandyar, despite the absence of their spouses, not only nurture their children but also make significant contributions to social work. They are especially notable for their efforts in running a shelter for the homeless called “Maskan” and their relentless relief work in the most remote, flood-affected hilly areas.
It would be unjust if I didn’t acknowledge the name and contributions of Princess Fakhri Akbarzeb, the first female student admitted to my alma mater by the royal family of Swat. She set the precedent for girls’ education and later became a teacher at our school. This institution now provides quality education to over a thousand girls, making a profound socio-economic contribution to society.
My head bows in absolute respect, as does that of my daughter and family, whenever we encounter these brave and compassionate women. They have made tremendous contributions to society despite facing numerous personal challenges, choosing to dedicate their time, energy, and resources to serving humanity.
