No more extremism: military brass declares

ISLAMABAD: A corp commanders meeting held at General
Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday with army chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, sent a loud and clear message to a section of the society that believes in taking law in hands when and whereever needed that there was no room for any kind of religious or otherwise extremism in Pakistan.
According to an official handout of the Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) , the corp commanders meeting condemned Sialkot incident, involving lynching of Preyantha Kumara , a Sri Lankan national, who was working as a production manager in a local factory in the city.
A frenzied group of people had lynched Preyantha Kumara after accusing him of blasphemy a few days ago. Every segment of Pakistan’s society has condemned the killing of Preyantha Kumara and demanded examplary punishment for those who were involved in this henious act.
ISPR handout said the corp commanders meetimg discussed Sialkot incident and expressed serious displeasure over occuring of the incident. It noted in clear terms that no restraints will be observed against those who will be found involved in religious or otherwise extremism.
The corp commanders meeting also discussed overall law and order situation of the country.
A tough and loud message from the military top brass for those who were involved in extremism is of extraordinary significance for the society. A day earlier, prime minister , Imran Khan, had declared in categorical terms that his government will not spare anyone found involved in extremism . Now the same message has come from the military top brass in 24 hours These messages from the top level will set a clear tone and strategy for Pakistan. Sialkot incident has caused irriparable loss to Pakistan. Its gave an impression to the world that Pakistani society as a whole was heading for extremism. Pakistan has to take practical steps to show that it was a country of peacelovers and it has no space for extremism.
