LAHORE : Nov 7,2022: The Wazirabad police have registered a first information report (FIR) of attack on Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) long march.

The FIR in the case has been registered with city police station after four days’ delay.

The police registered the FIR against the accused, Navid Ahmad , who was caught by the crowed after he opened up fire on the container carrying Imran Khan and other top leaders of PTI.

In the day , Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has given the deadline of ,24 hours to the Punjab police to register the FIR of attack on Imran Khan and other PTI leadership in Wazirabad , a city some 225 km in East South of Islamabad .

The attack on long march in Wazirabad had left Imran Khan and many other PTI leaders injured . One person , Moazam Gondal , father of four ,had died in firing at the spot .

PTI leadership had accused that some unseen powers were blocking their efforts aimed at registering of thr FIR of attack on Imran and others in Wazirabad on November 3, 2022.

In total contrast to PTI allegations , inspector general of police (IGP) in Punjab, Faisal Shahkar, had informed to the SCP on Monday that the Punjab government stopped his department to register an FIR in Wazirabad firing case .

IGP’s statement before the SCP was followed by a clarification issued by Moonis Elabi, son of chief minister , Ch Pervez Elahi. He said in the statement that the police was barred from registering the FIR in Wazirabad firing case against unknown individuals.

The statements of IGP and Moonis Elahi confirmed that PTI claim that some unseen forces haf blocked registering of the FIR in Wazirabad firing case was another deliberate attempt on the part of top PTI leadership to malign the state institutions.
