ISLAMABAD : Nov 23,2022: In a latest development , Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed at 12.14 AM on Wednesday General Headquarters (GHQ) has sent a summary containing names of six top Lt generals for appointment of the army chief and chairman joint chief of army staff (CJCAS) .
Here is a tweet of ISPR director general , Lt general, Nadeem Babar which confirmed moving of the summary for appointment of the new army chief..
“GHQ has forwarded the summary for Selection of CJCSC and COAS, containing names of 6 senior most Lt Gens to MoD”
ISPR tweet did not mention when the summary was forwarded to the MoD..
Defence minister , Khawaja Asif , did not confirm receiving of the summary from GHQ till Tuesday evening . He,however , hinted at announcement of the new army chief in next 24 hours.
Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) senior leader ,Shahid Khan Abbasi, had expressed serious concern over delay in moving of the summary for the appointment of the army chief while commenting on the appointment of the new army chief at a TV show on Tuesday evening .
Contradictory statements of the government ministers and ISPR have added more confusion on the moving of the summary for appointment of the new army chief .
ISPR has confirmed that the summary moved by the GHQ contains six names of top Lt generals. The prime minister will.pick one name out of listed candidates for the post of the army chief of Pakistan.
Six top Lt generals who might have made to the summery sent by GHQ. These contenders for the army chief slot may include , Lt general Asim Munir . He is considered hot favoritee for the post of top general of the army. Other generals whose names might have listed in the summary may include Lt general , Sahir Shamshad Mirza. He is also hot favoiritee for the job of the army chief. Other contenders may include Lt gen Azhar Abbas, Lt general , Faiz Hameed, Lt gen Noman and Lt gen Amir .
