This picture was taken by me during my last visit to Pak- Afghan border at Torkham of this young Afghan girl who all the way traveled from Afghanistan for her treatment since her own country despite served as the most favourite candy by two super powers though poisonous.
Sadly, both the super powers who brought arms and ammunition to destroy Afghanistan but didn’t have the heart to build a single hospital where common Afghan citizens could get treatment.
This is a similar story that caught attention of BBC regarding a labourer at the Pak Afghan border namely Amir Jan, resident of Nangarhar, whose infant son aged 4 months got critically ill and was advised his immediate evacuation to Pakistan.
Since, the Pak Afghan border was closed the couple were refused entry despite their insistence. As a last resort to save the child’s life, a truck driver was requested to get him across. The conscientious driver not only got the child admitted at the Hayat Abad medical complex Peshawar but informed the over anxious parents of the child’s safety who were helplessly awaiting the news across the border.
Once the BBC reported the heart wrenching story that also got viral on social media, Honourable Noor Ul Haq the Federal Minister for religious affairs, our family friend from a noble bloodline intervened and took the parents over to be by the bedside cabinet of the child
The story is still incomplete unless the driver identified for which I request the good offices of Honourable Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah himself a great humanitarian to intervene through his customs outpost at Torkham and not only identify the driver but honour the hero who practically proved that humanity was the best ideology over and above all other considerations.
