Islamabad : January 23, 2026: Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Limited, (CSAIL)have signed a Grant Agreement to renovate and rehabilitate Government Primary School Daad Bux Chang in Jhimpir, Thatta, Sindh, under TGWβs CSR initiative. The 12-month project, will include constructing classrooms and a toilet block, building a boundary wall, planting trees, installing an RO water filtration system, hiring teachers, and running community mobilisation and enrolment campaigns.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chief Executive Officer PPAF, Mr. Nadir Gul Barech, said the agreement formalises a meaningful partnership between PPAF and CSAIL, reflecting a shared commitment to sustainable development, community wellbeing, and inclusive growth. He noted that CSAILβs engagement in Pakistan extends beyond renewable energy generation to responsible corporate citizenship. βSupporting education infrastructure is a strategic CSR priority, as it lays the foundation for human capital development and intergenerational progress,β he said.
Highlighting the importance of the initiative, the CEO stated that the reconstruction of the school addresses a critical gap in educational infrastructure in a remote and underserved area. βA safe, functional, and child-friendly learning environment is essential for bringing out-of-school children back into classrooms,
particularly in rural settings. This initiative will directly benefit local children while strengthening community ownership and trust,β he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy CEO of China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Limited (CSAIL), Mr. Liu Yonggang, said: βWe at CSAIL are committed to developing renewable energy in Pakistan while supporting local communities through our corporate social responsibility. This partnership with PPAF to rehabilitate a school in Jhimpir will improve access to education for local children and contribute to community wellbeing. CSAIL operates the 720MW Karot Hydropower Project under CPEC and 150 MW Three Gorges Wind Power Projects in Jhimpir, Sindh, contributing clean energy to Pakistanβs national grid. PPAF continues to work nationwide to strengthen local infrastructure and promote inclusive, sustainable livelihoods.
