It hangs my head in shame to see what we are doing to our own country and what British did to our land as foreigners.
The other day I was in Peshawar and on Khyber Road this building caught my attention around which the boundary walls is raised higher ostensibly for the security reasons by the Army that mans all the security check points where now every road leads to the heart of the city where the Garrison is unfortunately located right from the British era and needs to be relocated to a more secluded location to give the troops the necessary security and privacy away from the civilian populated areas where their frequent interaction with civilian is sadly damaging the institutional image.
I was wondering about the beauty and durability of the architecture of this particular building that served as the British Soldiers barracks involved in the military campaigns in the then Afghan territory including tribal areas. This building was then called the Double Deckers. One can wish that the historic sanctity of the building is maintained without any foolish altercation to give it a modern outlook.
