PPPW acknowledges workers sacrifices for protecting human rights

Islamabad : The leadership of Pakistan People Party Workers issued a message Lahour day and said today on May 1 they stand in solidarity with the workers, especially in Pakistan. This important day pays tribute to the tireless struggle, sacrifices made in the pursuit of workers’ rights, and progress made since the historic Haymarket protests in Chicago. A statement issued by PPPW said “We renew our commitment to building a future where every worker is treated with dignity, respect, and justice, advocate for better labor standards, promote unity among workers, and ensure a fair share of progress”. PPPW further said “Our great leader, Prime Minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, played a key role in shaping labor policies, and introduced historic reforms that empowered the working classes, including a new labor policy that expanded workers’ rights, 20% participation of trade unions in management committees, a social security system, increased compensation rates, and old-age benefits through group insurance”. His government’s nationalization policies aimed to keep workers in control of production and protect small businesses, while labor courts were established to redress workers’ grievances. On this day, Pakistan Peoples Party workers recognizes the invaluable sacrifices of their labor brothers, past and present, and express solidarity with workers around the world, united in their struggle for a world where labor is valued, empowered, respected and protected. Let us pay tribute to the hands that make our world.
