47 DSPs in contention for BS 18 promotions

PESHAWAR – Oct 16 : In a significant move to enhance transparency and meritocracy within the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Department, a Departmental Selection Board DSB has been convened to facilitate the elevation of Deputy Superintendents of Police DSPs to the prestigious rank of Superintendents of Police SPs.

This pivotal board has undertaken the commendable task of identifying and recommending outstanding officers for promotion to the coveted BS 18 positions. Currently, the province stands to fill 17 vacant SP positions, underscoring the importance of selecting the best-suited individuals for this vital role. To this end, a meticulous list of 47 DSPs, contenders for this esteemed promotion, has been meticulously curated.

This selection process hinges on a crucial factor – the Annual Confidential Reports ACRs of the candidates, which will serve as a barometer of their performance and dedication to the force. The DSB is slated to convene today at the Central Police Office in Peshawar, and prior to this pivotal meeting, letters of joining have been dispatched to the Additional Chief Secretary Home Abid Majeed, Finance Secretary, and DIGs representing all ranges across the province. This inclusive approach aims to ensure that the promotion process adheres to the highest standards of justice and impartiality.

In a bold and commendable stance, Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Gandapur has unequivocally stated his intent to prioritize officers who uphold the principles of integrity and a spotless track record. Officers who have, unfortunately, been associated with activities detrimental to the department’s reputation, such as conspiracies and corruption, may find their paths to promotion obstructed. It is important to highlight that the promotion aspirations of some officers have taken a concerning turn, as they seek “Sifarish” from influential figures to bolster their prospects. This underscores the gravity of the promotion process, and the obligation to ensure that only the most deserving and principled individuals rise through the ranks.

The unfolding scenario in the KP Police Department carries significant implications for the future integrity and performance of law enforcement in the province. The spotlight now rests on the DSB, which is entrusted with the pivotal task of elevating those who will lead by example, adhering to the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
