PPP takes lead in Karachi , Hyderabad LB elections

PTI losing steam . JI on gaining momentum

ISLAMABAD: Jan 15, 2023: According to the initial unconfirmed results, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has swept in Sunday’s local body elections in the Hyderabad division, and its also in the visible lead in Karachi.

Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) seems to be losing in both important cities of Sindh, Karachi, and Hyderabad. Even Jamaat – e- Islami (JI) has performed better than PTI in Karachi. If the current ratio of results continues for the remaining constituencies, PPP will be in a much more comfortable position to have its mayors in Karachi and Hyderabad. PTI may lose steam if it loses to PPP and JI in Karachi and Hyderabad in the second phase of local body elections held on Sunday.

On the basis of its better performance in local body elections, PPP can get a great boost to perform better in forthcoming general elections, and in this case, PTI could be a big loser in Sindh even in the next general elections.

Pakistan Teheek- e -Insaf (PTI) leader, Khurrum Shair Zaman, claimed in a TV talk show that PPP has rigged Sunday’s local body elections.

Initial results show that PPP has won 90% of seats in Badin, Dadu, Thatha, Sajawal, Tando Allah Yar, Jamshoro and Tando Mohammad Khan, and other districts of the Hyderabad division.

According to Amin Farooqui, our correspondent in Thatha, PPP has won in all 7 union councils in Mukli, Gharo, and Ghora Bari. In Sehwan, PPP has also won in all seats. In Hyderabad PPP has bagged 23 union councils seats so. far.

In Miami, till the filing of these reports, PPP won 10 out of 11 union councils. In Matli Union Council, PPP has won all seats. In Hala Municipal Committee, PPP swept and won all the seats.

PPP. Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto, claimed in a media statement that his party has swept in the second phase of local body elections held in Hyderabad and Karachi. He congratulated to the party leaders and workers for this big success in the local body elections of Sindh.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) chief, Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, held a meeting with PPP supremo, Asif Ali Zardari, in Lahore. Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain congratulated Asif Ali Zardari on the big win of the PPP in Sunday’s local body elections in Sindh.

PPP senior leader and ex-senator, Sussi Palejo, in her message, thanked the people of Karachi and Hyderabad division for trusting and voting for PPP in Sunday’s local body elections. She said PPP win in local body elections was an outcome of sacrifices made by PPP’s great leaders like Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. She said PPP will continue its journey of serving the people of Pakistan.
