ISLAMABAD : May 24,2023: While announcing to give up his Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) office’s, Asad Umar on Wednesday said the army were more important for Pakistan than Imran Khan.
Asad Umar , the most trusted political aide of Imran khan held an emergent press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday to announce his partial dissociation with PTI and his chairman.
Asad Umar said he is resigning today as PTI secretary general and member of party core committee forthwith . Asad Umar , however , made it clear that he was still in PTI.
Many PTI leaders including some party hawks have totally disassociated themselves from PTI in the wake of May 9 attacks on military installations .
Asad Umar , however , had followed bit different approach . He announced to resign as PTI secretary general and member of the core committee, but made it clear at the pressure test he was not resigning from PTI.
He like other leaders like Shireen Mazaei, Fawad Chaudhary and dozens other did not immediately resigned from PTI.
PTI is in hot water since occurrence of violence in May 9 protest and its dozens of second tier leaders have parted their ways from PTI.
Asad Umar who was bailed out by the court on Wednesday said he condemns May 9 violence and urges political forces to sit and have dialogue to bring Pakistan back from what he termed as ” worse situation than post fall Dhaka situation” .
Asad Umar denied that he was giving up his PTI position under coercion and said he was pondering in jail for 15 days over Pakistan’s political crisis and finally reached to a conclusion that there was urgent need to give up politics of confrontation and sit for dialogue to save Pakistan from the on–going political crisis.
Asad Umar demanded that the government should fix up those who were involved in May 9 carnage , but release those arrested who were innocents.
