ISLAMABAD: June 9, 2023: Prime minister, Shahbaz Sharif, on Friday addressed the special session of the federal cabinet convened here to approve federal budget 2023-24.
The prime minister told the cabinet that Pakistan missed key targets of 2022-23 due to some serious challenges confronted with the country. He said there was a great space that Pakistan can make a turnaround and take a big leap for economic progress in coming years. The prime minister advised to his economic team to grant a reasonable increase in the salary and pensions so that the salaried class of the society could make a good living. He said Pakistan’s agriculture sector will rebound in next fiscal .
The prime minister also dwelled on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreement. He said China, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) have helped Pakistan a lot and there is great possibility that IMF agreement for resumption of 9th review will mature in the current month..
The federal cabinet approved budgetary allocations in its special meeting with prime minister, Shahbaz Sharif , in the chair.
