*Insecurity”!!

This banner, displayed by the police seeking information about extortionists, mercenaries, and land grabbers, vividly illustrates the challenges faced by security forces in KP. The situation becomes even graver when criminals start targeting the heart of the capital city of Peshawar, which houses the headquarters of nearly all law enforcement agencies, whether military or civil.

The Pakistani economic ship is sinking faster and deeper than the Titanic did in the Atlantic Ocean. The value of capital, being the most delicate of all commodities, rapidly diminishes in the face of insecurity. What could be worse than insecurity that leads to attacks on homes and factories in broad daylight?

The GM Fur and Leather Industry is hailed as a pioneer in the leather industry across the entire KP province. It’s disheartening that today, Capt R Saleem Fida, a cherished family friend and a staunch Pakistani, laments about the insecurity his children and family face after his factory-residence came under attack near Shah Alam Bridge, within the jurisdiction of Dawoodzai police station in District Peshawar.

To the invaders, this might have seemed like the opportune moment, assuming that there is a lack of law or law enforcement in Pakistan to deter their bold daylight raid on a family. Such incidents emphasize the state’s responsibility to provide necessary security, including prioritized issuance of arms licenses. This ensures that individuals are not deprived of their inherent right to self-defense against trespassers or aggressors who threaten their lives and security.
