Islamabad : February 3: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founding chief and ex- prime minister , Imran Khan, has been convicted in third case in a row in a week . This time its a case of his marriage with Bushra Bibi which has bitten him to stay behind the bars for another 7 years .
Bushra Bibi to whom cricketer -turned politician Imran Khan married around 6 years ago was also awarded 7- year jail term in this case .
An Islamabad civil court of Judge , Qudrat Allah , announced the sentence for Imran Khan and her spouse , Bushra Bibi , for entering into marriage without waiting for a period of Iddat . As per Islamic laws, a women is required to wait for 120 days after being divorced or in a case of death of her husband before marrying a new husband to make sure that she is not pregnant of her first husband .
Imran Khan had married to Bushra Bibi 6 years ago . Khawar Manika, Bushra Bibi’s previous husband and a retired Customs officer had filed a case against PTI founding chief and Bushra Bibi claiming both married without waiting for Iddat period. The court of Qudratullah judge also declared Imran -Bushra marriage un-Islamic and void. Its second case in which Bushra Bibi has been convicted . Earlier , she was awarded a14 -year jail term in Toshakhana case . She had surrendered to the jail authorities after being convicted in Toshakhana case for 14 -year.
Bushra Bibi , however , was shifted to her Bani Gala residence. The jail authorities had declared her residence in Islamabad as sub jail for spending jail term. Her shifting to Bani Gala residence from Adiala jail Rawalpindi soon after her surrender to jail authorities has initiated a debate in the local media which gave an impression that Bushra Bibi was given a special concession to spending jail term at her house in Islamabad and it was a part of her deal with the government .
Although Bushra Bibi had set a side the impression of any deal in shifting her to Bani Gala and termed the talk of the deal with authorities as a rubbish, but her denial of an impression of the deal has not put an end to discussion of her deal. Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi both were present when the court announced the judgement .
According to the journalists who were taken into Adiala jail told local media that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi strongly reacted in anger to the judgment and called the conviction as a planned game.
Imran Khan talked to the media person for a short time on his judgements . He said he was being penalised through courts for exposing a conspiracy hatched by former army chief , Qamar Bajwa and US official , Donald Lu. He said his conviction in the Iddat case was meant to humiliate him in the public. He called recent judgements as a person specific and said no one was punished like him just to expose the conspiracy hatched to dismiss his government.
Imran Khan , according to some media reports , was speaking to media when the jail authorities forced him to end his media talk and go inside the pl rising as he was a convict and not an accused . The jail authorities as per law do not allow any convict to speak to the media.
