Lahore : Feb 13 , 2024: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN ) has formally nominated Shahbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz for prime minister and chief minister Punjab slots respectively. Pakistan People Party (PPP) has already announced to support PMLN candidate for prime minister .
PMLN supremo , Mian Nawaz Sharif , approved nomination of Shahbaz Sharif as prime minister and Maryam Nawaz as chief minister Punjab here on Tuesday. After PPP support for its nominee for prime minister , PMLN has no issue to get majority votes to form federal government .
PMLN needs 169 seats to form government in the centre . Total number of PPP and PMLN stand at 123 and it increases to 203 with women and minority seats . Numerically , PMLN will have no issue in forming federal government and running it as long as it enjoys PPP support . PMLN is happy over PPP for its support for its nominated prime minister .
In the Punjab , PMLN already has majority to form its government in Punjab. Its members number in the Punjab assembly is 137 and it is enough for PMLN to form government in the Punjab.
Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) had also nominated Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur for chief minister Khyber Pukhtunkhaw (KPK).
