Islamabad : Feb 15, 2024: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday arrested an ex Member Estate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) , Afnan Alam, for his involvement in mega corruption cases. An FIA anti corruption circle Islamabad team led by Deputy Director , Afzal Khan Niazi , and comprising assistant director , Malik Sajid and inspector Zahid Bhatti arrested the accused Afnan Alam. The accused was arrested after the court rejected his bail in the corruption case . The accused has been arrested for his alleged involvement in corruption of billions of rupees through allotments of plots in Sector I- 12 and I-15 to undeserving individuals .
According to the FIA , the accused Afnan Alam alloted dozens of costly plots to his handpicked individuals in violation of the CDA rules and procedures .
Afnan Alam had hit headlines in the media when his corruption tale was highlighted by Rizwan Ghani, an Islamabad -based known builder and owner of Ghani Group, a few months ago. Afnan Alam had demanded huge some of money as a booty from the owners of Ghani Group and later tried to harass them after failing in getting bribe money . Rizwan Ghani had submitted a case with FIA and demanded probe of his mega corruption done by Afnan Alam as Member Estate CDA.
After a few months , FIA team arrested him for alloting costly plots to individuals which caused loss of billions of the rupee to the authority. FIA team will produce the accused in the court of law on Friday for his physical demand .
