Islamabad : Feb 17: Amid serious allegations of rigging in February 8 election by Commissioner Rawalpindi , Liaqat Ali Chatha , and changing win of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) backed independents into defeat and rising protests of PTI of Imran Khan and several other politica parties on the streets against mandate theft , chief justice , Faez Isa , sought proofs from the commissioner in support of his allegations . Chief justice of Pakistan , Faez Isa , in his informal talk to media in response to the Commissioner ‘s accusations said “Its very easy to level allegations but the officer should come up with proofs to support what he alleged in his media talk regarding rigging in February 8 election. CJP also showed dismay over the Commissioner ‘s allegations of holding him and Chief Election Commissioner , Sikander Sultan Raja , responsible of rigging in February 8 election and said ” Tomorrow one can accuse him of murder and theft , but where is the evidence in favour of these allegations’. He said as CJP he resolved the issue of election date and then ECP held the election . He wondered how he could be held responsible of any alleged rigging . He said ‘If you are an enemy to Pakistan., you will definitely make the institutions controversial’ .
Meanwhile , The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) convened its urgent meeting late on Saturday to discuss the allegations of the Commissioner Rawalpindi . After initial deliberations , ECP decided to form a high level committee to probe allegations of the Commissioner Rawalpindi.
Commissioner Rawalpindi , Liaqat Ali Chatha , had hurled allegations on CJP , Faez Isa and CEC , Sikander Sultan Raja , and accused them of rigging February 8 election.
