ISLAMABAD- June 2 ,2924 : Superintendent of Prison Muhammad Arif has been removed from his position following a surprise raid by intelligence agencies at Mardan Central Prison. According to sources from the Home Department, the raid, conducted a few days ago, recovered contraband including cell phones from high valued prisoners within the prison premises. The intelligence agency submitted a detailed report of their findings to the provincial government. As a result, Muhammad Arif has been removed from his post and reassigned as an OSD. In a related development, Syed Sadaat Ali Shah, previously a clerk, recently promoted to BS-16 and posted and junior in rank and hierarchy is posted as Superintendent of the Sub Jail in District Nowshera. This posting has raised eyebrows, as sources indicate that a senior officer named Baitullah Khan was originally designated for this position. Despite his qualifications, Additional Home Secretary Parvez allegedly bypassed the standard protocol to post his junior relative, Sadaat Ali Shah, to the Nowshera Sub Jail. Currently, there are 50 seniors assistant superintendents of prisons then him and about 50 numbers officers in BS-17 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Sadaat Ali Shah ranked 50th on the seniority list of BS-16 officers. Sources allege that the transfer orders for Sadaat Ali Shah were issued without the knowledge of the Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, and were copy not sent to his office. It is believed that Additional Chief Secretary Abid Majeed was misled into signing the order for Sadaat Ali Shah. This incident is part of a broader trend of appointing junior and allegedly corrupt officers to significant positions within the KP prison system. This practice has reportedly led to increased corruption and irregularities, along with reports of severe human rights violations. There are also allegations of involvement by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government in these issues, further complicating the situation. The recent developments have intensified concerns over the management and integrity of the prison system in KP, calling for immediate reforms to address these pressing issues.
