NAB Recovers Rs 4 Trillion in Last Six Months

ISLAMABAD, October 24, 2024: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has claimed to have made direct and indirect recoveries of Rs 4 trillion over the past six months.

This was disclosed during the 24th DGs Conference, presided over by NAB Chairman Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Nazir Ahmed, and attended by key officials including the Deputy Chairman and Prosecutor General Accountability.

During the three-day conference, regional directors and department heads presented performance reports. Notably, the Karachi and Sukkur regions achieved indirect recoveries of Rs 2.5 trillion by reclaiming 1.8 million acres of forest land from land grabbers, with a formal report submitted to the Chief Minister of Sindh.

Additionally, NAB Karachi reported recoveries of Rs 1,189 million through settlements, while NAB Sukkur recovered 631,352.26 acres of forest land valued at Rs 1,103.5128 billion. NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also made indirect recoveries of Rs 194,937 million.

NAB Lahore highlighted its efforts in 2023-24, returning Rs 23,786.158 million to 31,038 victims of fraud. Meanwhile, NAB Rawalpindi, Multan, and Quetta reported significant recoveries, contributing to national efforts.

As of now, NAB is processing 724 inquiries and 217 investigations, with 821 cases currently under hearing. Since January 2024, the bureau has addressed 16,429 complaints.

The conference also focused on the auctioning of confiscated and frozen properties, emphasizing strategies to expedite the return of funds to affected individuals, ensuring timely relief.
