ISLAMABAD; The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday firmely declared there would be no extension in deadline for filing income tax returns.
The deadline of December 8, 2020 expired today.
The FBR also termed the letter circulating in social media , showing extension in the deadline to this effect as fake and issued an announcement rejecting all demands for extension in deadline for filing income tax returns.
In an official announcement made here, FBR spokesperson, Adnan Bajwa , said “There is going to be no extension in deadline for filing income tax returns”.
The trade bodies and associations were demanding extension in the deadline for filing income tax returns.
Extension in deadline for filing income tax returns had been a routine in Pakistan and filers used to take the deadlines as a fun. This culture of extension literally made the official anniuncements to this effect as a joke. Its for the first time that any government has taken firm position in this matter and it will help restore some sanctity of the ifficial announcements in the future.
