Govt increases diesel price by Rs 10.39 , petrol Rs 8.36 per litre

Islamabad : On the pretext of Iran-Israel conflict that lasted for 12 days , the Government has made massive increase in petrol and diesel prices for the current fortnight (July 1-15).

The international market of Brent had shot up with the beginning of Iran and Israel war but then it fell down just a few days later.

The government used this conflict to scale up the prices of diesel and petrol for 15 days. Pakistan is following bi-monthly policies to adjust petroleum product prices keeping in view the change in the international market. But sometimes it uses the prices of petroleum products to meet revenue requirements.

The same strategy of need-based oil prices have been used this time again. A notification issued by the Finance Division on wee hours on Tuesday said the government has decided to revise the prices of petroleum products for the fortnight July 1-15, based on the recommendations of OGRA & the relevant ministries. The revised prices effective July 1, 2025 will be as follows:

Whatever is the logic on the part of the government , such a big increase in oil prices will make the people live even harder in Pakistan. The spiral affect of the increase in the petroleum product prices will bite the inflation -hit people massively.
