Al-Khidmat Raazi Hospital hosts “Ibn Sina and Imam Razi Conference”

Rawalpindi: A prestigious conference entitled “Ibn Sina and Imam Razi Conference” was convened at Alkhidmat Razi Hospital, Rawalpindi, to commemorate and pay tribute to the unparalleled intellectual, scientific, and medical contributions of Abu Ali al-Husayn Ibn Sina and Abu Bakr Muhammad Ibn Zakariya al-Razi. The event was attended by a distinguished gathering of doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals, and other members of the medical fraternity.

The central theme of the conference was “Islamic Medicine and Home-Based Healthcare.” The conference was jointly organized through the collaborative efforts of Alkhidmat Razi Hospital, the Ibn Sina Institute, the World Aging Council, and the Institute for AI and Digital Policy (IIADP).

The Chief Guest was Dr. Kemal Aydın, a distinguished Turkish gerontologist, Founder and CEO of the Ibn Sina Institute, and President of the World Aging Council. By a remarkable coincidence, Dr. Aydın is also an alumnus of Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore, which further strengthened the significance of his association with Pakistan.

The proceedings commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by the National Anthem of Pakistan. Engineer Abu Umair Zahid, Chairman of Alkhidmat Razi Hospital, extended a warm and gracious welcome to the distinguished guests and participants. Dr. Usman Zafar, Medical Superintendent, also addressed the gathering.

In his keynote address, Dr. Kemal Aydın provided an in-depth exposition of the fundamental principles and enduring legacy of Islamic medicine, while highlighting the growing relevance of Home-Based Healthcare in the contemporary healthcare landscape. He elaborated on innovative approaches to providing medical and supportive healthcare services within the home environment and shared his extensive professional experience concerning the care and wellbeing of older adults, particularly with regard to the integration of modern technology and digital solutions into geriatric healthcare.

A significant milestone of the conference was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Alkhidmat Razi Hospital and the Ibn Sina Institute under the framework of the “Hospital at Home” programme. The agreement aims to establish a structured mechanism for mutual cooperation and collaboration in the provision of healthcare services beyond the conventional hospital setting.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, commemorative souvenirs and honorary shields were presented to distinguished guests in recognition of their participation and valuable contributions. The event concluded with expressions of gratitude, followed by prayers for the continued success of the initiative and the wellbeing of humanity.
