ISLAMABAD – Strengthening public healthcare services, improving financial accountability and upgrading hospital management have emerged as key achievements at Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex (QHAMC), MTI Nowshera, during the reporting period from September 12, 2025, to June 30, 2026, under the leadership of Hospital Director Professor Dr, Hamzullah Khan and his team.
According to the institution’s progress report, the 517-bed tertiary care teaching hospital recorded approximately 644,000 outpatient visits and 43,990 admissions, reflecting its central role in providing healthcare to the people of Nowshera and adjoining areas. The hospital, the largest public sector healthcare facility in the district, provides emergency, specialist, diagnostic, inpatient and critical care services to a large population.

A major focus of the administration has been to strengthen institutional governance and improve the use of public resources. The Quality Assurance Department was reactivated and began internal inspections and quality audits, while daily morning meetings and executive rounds were institutionalised to strengthen clinical oversight and coordination among departments. The Human Resources Department also began functioning, and the Information Technology Department initiated work towards digital hospital management systems, a data centre and improved networking. The administration also took steps to fill key management positions through open advertisement, competitive selection and merit based recruitment.
In a significant step towards modernising medical education, the hospital established a digital examination hall equipped with 62 computers. The administration also reported improvements in ward facilities, high dependency care, nursery services and dedicated dengue beds, helping strengthen the institution’s capacity to manage patients requiring specialised treatment.Financial management and revenue protection formed another important part of the reform programme.
For the first time, according to the report, systematic recovery of house rent and utility charges from eligible occupants of hospital residential facilities was initiated and documented.A dedicated accommodation and maintenance account was also established to improve transparency in managing these funds and ensure that they remain directed towards their intended purpose.
The introduction of an online Medical Procurement Cell portal was another measure aimed at improving transparency in the supply chain by tracking purchase orders and delivery challans.Regular preventive maintenance and quality assurance checks of biomedical equipment were also reported, while the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority inspected the radiology and CT/MRI facilities in December 2025 and issued an evaluation containing recommendations that the hospital said were being addressed.
These measures are intended to benefit the public through stronger institutional oversight, more accountable use of resources, improved hospital facilities and greater continuity of essential healthcare services.Their ultimate significance, however, will be measured by sustained implementation, improved patient experience and demonstrable improvements in the quality and accessibility of treatment.
The report identifies further priorities, including filling remaining management vacancies, developing a performance monitoring dashboard, launching patient satisfaction initiatives, strengthening coordination between the hospital and medical college, and preparing a medium term development plan.
The achievements documented during the reporting period reflect the efforts of Professor Dr, Hamzullah Khan and the QHAMC team to strengthen a major public healthcare institution serving Nowshera and surrounding communities. The report also notes that some data remained under compilation, and the figures and financial details should be reconciled before the document is treated as a final, complete performance record.
