Muttiqi rules out misuse of Afghan soil against Pakistan

ISLAMABD: Visiting acting Afghan Foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttiqi, on Friday reiterated his country’s commitment that his government will make sure that Afghan soil was not used against Pakistan or any other country .
Afghan interim Foreign minister said this while speaking to media here.
Muttiqi, who is currently visiting Pakistan to attend an important conference of 3- plus countries held in Islamabad to explain his country’s style of governance and also seek support of important capitals of the world like Washington, Beijing, London and Moscow.
Pakistan hosted this conference of trioka plus to make these important capitals feel that interim Afghan government needed their recognition to pull Afghanistan out of half a century old national crisis.
Since take over of Taliban, Pakistan is urging upon the global community to help new Afghan government by recognising it, besides extending financial support to help it avert looming humanitarian crisis in its country . Pakistan is also pleading to the United States of America (USA) to defreeze $ 10 billion of Afghanistan to help its interim government overcome its worsening financial crisis.
Interim Afghan Foreign minister is also busy with his delegation in Islamabad to sort out thorny issues that were hampering bilateral trade and investment between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Afghan interim Foreign minister and his team is discussing ways and means to make Pak- Afghan mutual trade simple and hassle free. Afghan interim government is massively depending on Pakistan to keep minimum supply of essential items to offset looming hunger crisis in Afghanistan. Pakistan, despite suffering serious financial crisis at home, is trying to help out Afghan brothern by supplying essential items to meet Afghanistan’s minimum demand. It has allowed exports to Afghanistan in local currency, besides opening up new border points to quicken entry of Afghans into Pakistan. It’s also making special concessions for Afghanistan like cutting down of duties and taxes on tradeable items with Kabul. In recent weeks, Pakistan had allowed Afghan trucks to use Pakistan’s land routes for trade with other regional countries.
Since, the volume of demand is much bigger than current supplies, its not possible for Pakistan to keep maintaining supplies of essentials for that country for an indefinite period.
