ISLAMABAD: Despite serious objections of the Establishment and Finance Division, a powerful mafia of Martime Affairs Division on Tuesday managed to secure appointment of its own man, Nadir Mumtaz Warraich, from the federal cabinet.Prime minister, Imran Khan, chaired the meeting.
A lobby headed by a federal minister hailing from Karachi played a key role in appointment of a handpicked officer as KPT chairman.
Sources said Maritime Affairs Division misguided the federal cabinet for appointment of KPT chairman as it consealed the reports of Establishment Division and Finance Division from the federal cabinet. Appointment of Nadir Mumtaz Warraich , a grade -22 officer of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is yet another bad decision of the Imran Khan government.
The minutes of one of the previous federal cabinet meetings suggested that since December 8, 2020, more than a year now, an influential mafia running the Maritime Affairs Division, had got installed Nadir Mumtaz Warraich , as KPT chairman on look after basis. Three times extension in look after charge as KPT chairman clearly suggested that Nadir Mumtaz Warraich was serving the purpose of some influential racket of Maryime Affairs Division. Interestingly, the same mafia had managed to misguide the federal cabinet to get approved look after charge for three terms (three months each) in the last one year and now the same mafia has got the same man ( Nadir Mumtaz Warraich) appointed as chairman KPT.
Repeated extensions for Nadir Mumtaz Warraich, who being FBR guy, has no relevance to get appointed as KPT chairman indicated the power of the mafia running the Maritime Affairs Division.
An official document made available to NEWSMAN suggested that the Establishment and Finance Division had objected that Nadir Mumtaz Warraich has applied for the post of chairman KPT without obtaining no objection certificate (NOC) from his parent income tax department and hence does not fulfill the requirement of MPS -1,
