ISLAMABAD: (May 25): An arrest made on Wednesday in connection with making fake accounts in the names of senior army officers may add to the woes of the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI).
According to some media reports, the government agencies arrested a middle aged man , Sadaqat Hussain , a resident of Sargodha on allegedly creating fake twitter accounts in the name of senior military officers to create an impression in the public that the army ranks were divided in the case of PTI handling and treatment. The suspect admitted in initial investigations that he was trained and facilitated by PTI local leader Sardar Shahzad Ahmad Khan and on his advice he was given a job in PTI SHahpur office. He further told investigators that he was trained by PTI Canada chapter’s information secretary Talat Kashif to create fake twitter accounts and generate trends through fake account to generate public support for PTI.
According to the suspect, he create huge number of fake twitter accounts in the name of senior army officers including Maj Gen (R) Mohammad Asghar, Maj Gen Faisal Mushtaq and other senior serving and retired military officers.
Social media of PTI is targeting the armed forces for long. It has direct link with tip PTI leadership in and outside Pakistan and the sole purpose of creating fake twitter accounts in the name of retried and serving armed officer is to give an impression of division among the armed forces by spreading fake statements through such twitter accounts. After dismissal of Imran Khan government in the centre ,PTI social wings had expedited its activity of generating fake twitter accounts and spread dubious and fake statements through these accounts. Although the government agencies authorized to check cyber crimes are taking prompt action to check such nefarious activities of PTI social activities involved in dirty business of targeting armed forces and they have arrested dozens of such elements but still anti state activity has not come to end .
A number of army officers retired had denied their twitter accounts used obviously by PTI to defame army institution sometimes last month and demanded action against those who were involved in creating fake twitter accounts in their name.
