Amidst corona surge, Pakistan decide to go back to lockdown option

ISLAMQBAD,: As corona cases continue to surge alarmingly for more than a week, the federal government has decided to clamp down lockdown in 20 major cities of Pakistan from May 2, 2021.

The lockdown will be imposed in selected cities/ districts on two weeks basis.

An official document available with NEWSMAN suggests, the National Command and Control (NCOC) decided to go back to the option of city wise lockdown where pandemic is showing dangerous spread.

The cities where the government is going to impose lockdown to curtail the disease included Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Dir Lower, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Mazafarabad, Charsada, Bagh , Poonch Hyderabad, Sudhnati, Swat, Swabi, Nowshehra, Mardan, Multan and Malakand.

The government was struggling to avoid the option of lockdown for its abvious financial impact on the public. Prime minister, Imran Khan, himself was against the lockdown as it could add to the people ‘s difficulties. But now NCOC has put a side all these arguments and decided to go to the option of lockdown in those cities districts where the corona cases are on surge
