Rawalpindi : Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) spokesperson has issued a statement which said it provided actionable lead to global partners in the fight against drug trafficking and the arrests of an international drug racket based in Afghanistan in Colombo , Sri Lanka was result of the same mission.
The spokesperson further said “Pakistan remains both a transit and victim state for Afghan-origin drugs. In fulfilment of its international obligations, ANF closely cooperates with allied and partner agencies to conduct coordinated counter-narcotics operations”.
The spokesperson added the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) has achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts against international drug trafficking by successfully exposing and disrupting a transnational narcotics trafficking network involved in smuggling Afghan-origin drugs through Pakistan to international markets.
The spokesperson said “Based on actionable intelligence developed by the Anti Narcotics Force, a successful operation was conducted against a transnational drug trafficking organization, which resulted in recovery of 200 kg of Methamphetamine (Ice) from a container at Karachi Port along with the Afghan mastermind namely Ehsan Ullah. Local handlers were also arrested”.
The statement noted after thorough Investigations from the Afghan Kingpin, ANF Pakistan shared critical information to Sri Lankan authorities and DEA. This timely information resulted in recovery of 471 kg Methamphetamine (Ice) had been skillfully concealed.
Considering the urgency of the matter, ANF shared the actionable intelligence with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to ensure timely coordinated action and prevent the international trafficking of the narcotics.
As a result of the information provided by ANF, the DEA coordinated with relevant Sri Lankan authorities, leading to a successful joint operation at Colombo Port, Sri Lanka, resulted in the recovery of 471 kg Methamphetamine (Ice) concealed in towels.
During this international joint operation against narcotics trafficking, a total of 671 kg Methamphetamine (Ice) linked to the Afghanistan-based drug trafficking network was seized from Karachi and Colombo ports. The network was attempting to use Pakistani territory as a transit route for transporting narcotics to international destinations.
Anti Narcotics Force played a pivotal role throughout the operation by utilizing advanced intelligence-based strategies to identify the drug trafficking network. This successful operation reflects ANF’s professional capabilities, commitment to combating narcotics trafficking, and its effective cooperation with international law enforcement agencies.
ANF’s efforts in dismantling international DTOs and apprehending Afghan drug traffickers and their local facilitators have been formally acknowledged by Sri Lankan authorities and the U.S. DEA, underscoring ANF’s effective role in international counter-narcotics cooperation.
US and Sri Lanka had conducted a joint raid on a container last week which Sri Lankan police said had departed from Karachi and they recovered 671 kg of meth (ICE) drug during the operation.
Sri Lankan authorities , while giving statement on the operation , had claimed that they had arrested two Pakistanis during the raid in the container. They apparently gave an impression that the drug was shipped from Karachi for Colombo.
