.SUKKUR : May 16, 2024: SUKKUR:Under the auspices of the Asian Ombudsman Association, a webinar was organized to discuss the role of ombudsmen in providing justice to the people at their doorstep. More than 60 participants from Asian countries attended the webinar. Aejaz Ahmed Qureshi, Federal Ombudsman and current President of the Asian Ombudsman Association, addressed the webinar and emphasized the importance of wider public awareness in ensuring the success of ombudsmen’s offices.
The Asian Ombudsman Association is a non-political organization comprising 47 member countries, with its secretariat located in Islamabad. Federal Ombudsman Aejaz Ahmed Qureshi, who is also the current President of the Asian Ombudsman Association, said that the institution is constantly striving to provide administrative justice to the people at their doorstep. He emphasized that wider public awareness is key to the success of ombudsmen’s offices.
Federal Ombudsman Aejaz Ahmed Qureshi inaugurated a webinar organized by the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA) on the role of ombudsmen in providing justice to the people at their doorstep. The webinar was attended by more than 60 participants from Asian countries.They said that a comprehensive and coordinated awareness campaign is being launched to immediately address the complaints of the people in far-flung and backward areas. The Federal Ombudsman further said that the United Nations and other international organizations have emphasized that all member countries should take steps at the national level to raise awareness about ombudsmen’s offices, with the cooperation of relevant stakeholders, so that the common man can benefit. Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed addressed the webinar and presented a professional and informative lecture on various methods of public awareness, as well as the immediate redressal of the people’s grievances against government institutions. He said that the establishment of more ombudsmen offices and the use of information technology can be very beneficial for public awareness.They also emphasized the importance of the media and the journalist community playing their full role in conveying the message and objectives of the ombudsmen to the common man, so that people can be made aware of their rights and responsibilities. The webinar was attended by more than 60 participants from Azerbaijan, China, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, and Pakistan, including federal and provincial ombudsmen, as well as regional office representatives.
