ISLAMABAD: A conference organised to remember Asma Jahangir’s ‘services’ on her first anniversary had turnd into a club of a particular section of the society that off and on targets the state institutions. It would be perfectly right if its dubbed as a club of ‘Pakistani Cicilion mafia’ that used this conference to push forward its anti state agenda.
Ali Ahmad Kurd, a lawyer by profession , went for from a reasonable and responsible approach in his speech to target the judiciary and the army, two key components of the state. He amidst clapping of the participants went on spreading his venom against the higher judiciary and the army to prove to his master that he was his best choice for ‘duty’ assigned to him. He is the same Kurd who had headed the campaign for restoration of his then boss Iftikhar Chaudhary as chief justice of Pakistan. Chaudhary Iftikhar is publically advocating the case of Nawaz Sharif. One needs to understand Kurd’s relationship with Iftikhar Chaudhary to understand the reason and purpose of his venomous speech aimed at targeting the higher judiciary and add to the theme of Rana Shamim that Pakistan’s higher judiciary actually takes decisions under coercion.
As events unfolded , it appeared that the conference was organised for ‘Pakistani Cicilion mafia’ to use it to launch afresh phase of its anti state campaign.
The ‘services’ of “legendary’ Asma Jahangir were fully known to every Pakistani. In her entire life, she targetted the state organs and even after her death her ‘legacy’ is being carried forward by Kurd and his type.
Information minister, Fawad Hussain Chaudhary, had declined to join in the controversial conference. In his tweet, Fawad Hussain Chaudhary , said on Sunday that he would not like to be a part of the conference whose concluding speaker was a proclaimed offender.
The minister also suggested to the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) to stay away from such conferences where some people target the state institutions for personal gains.
