Assets are the tangibles one encashes in difficult times, Sadly, Pakistan pledged all its assets with IMF against loans they squandered and now the only asset left is its manpower and unfortunately they are also leaving the country as fully developed product to serve foreign countries but then we love foreign countries and culture that makes it the most desired destination both of our elites and leadership but there choice is not without a reason those who opt to stay back not only suffer but are inflicted with both emotional and professional injuries.
I had the privilege of meeting Honourable Khurshid Ahmed Marwat, the Chief Commissioner of the Regional Tax Office in Islamabad today . What struck me the most about him was his exceptional moral, professional, academic, and mental strength. It was awe-inspiring to witness his remarkable comeback from a vegetative state as a paraplegic bed ridden patient to standing tall today with the strength of his willpower.
Credit for this remarkable meeting goes to Honourable Sardar Ali Khawaja, who incidently hails from my home town of Swat and is himself a former senior income tax group official. Who always upheld rules than to favor friends and family, an irrefutable societal norm that exists in our society . It is through his efforts that we can now learn about this distinguished civil servant who knocked me off with his both academic, professional, psychological and physical strength, something rare to find in one individual.
Khurshid Ahmed Marwat’s epic professional journey is nothing short of scrip of a awe inspiring blockbuster . He initially began his career in journalism during the 90s after completing his Masters in Political Science from the University of Peshawar. With a thirst for knowledge, he pursued a Master’s in Business Administration from the prestigious Institute of Business Administration in Karachi and later embarked on a triple Master’s degree from Harvard University in Public Administration as a Fulbright scholar.
Even though Marwat was offered a Doctorate by Sandford University , his love for the country and later health concerns compelled him to return. His commitment to serving Pakistan led him to work as a commercial counselor in Afghanistan, where he achieved outstanding success in boosting bilateral trade during Ashraf Ghani’s presidency. Despite his impressive achievements, Marwat often found himself sidelined due to the prevailing emphasis on personal connections over meritocracy.
Marwat’s wife, Honourable Shanaz Maqbool an equally accomplished customs group officer, has consistently outperformed her peers with her exceptional work ethics and professionalism, again a Harward Almunus . However, her unwavering commitment to honesty in her job has sometimes made her a misfit in an environment where personal preferences are prioritized over professional obligations. It is essential to recognize and appreciate the contributions of individuals like Marwat and his wife, who serve as beacons of integrity and excellence.
Marwat’s story represents the untapped potential within our country. It is disheartening that we often overlook brilliant individuals like him, instead favoring foreign faces with less familiarity with our local challenges like Moeen Qureshi, Shukat Aziz and their likes brought in from time to time to end the country’s economic woes . By recognizing and nurturing local talent, we can harness the skills and expertise of individuals like Marwat to address the numerous problems related to revenue generation that we face as a nation.
Khurshid Ahmed Marwat’s journey from adversity to achievement is a testament to the indomitable human spirit. His unwavering dedication, combined with his exceptional qualifications and professional achievements, make him a role model for aspiring students, journalists and civil servants.
It is crucial that we value and support individuals like Marwat, who possess the necessary attributes to drive positive change in our country. By doing so, we can build a brighter future, driven by local talent and a commitment to excellence. One can hope to see Mr. Marwat someday strengthening the foundations of CBR as its Chairman to help the country stand on her feet in revenue generation exactly the way he stood on his own feet with sheet determination to serve his country selflessly. A national civil award by the country for the services of people like Marwat is no much deal to keep them motivated when they have no motives other than serve the country selflessly . Long Live Pakistan Pakistan Destroyed By Kakistocracy🇵🇰
