SWAT: April 24,2023: At least one dozen died and more than 50 others injured in a bomb blast that exploded inside the building of Kabal Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station here in Swat on Monday.
According to the local deputy suprentendent police (DSP), Atta Ullah , the building of Kabal CTD police station collapsed onto the ground as a result of huge bomb blast that caused loss of lives. He said most deaths and injuries were caused due to collapse of CTD police station building.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Swat , Shafiullah, the blast inside Kabal CTD police station took place at around 8.20 pm and it resulted in caving in of the roof of CTD police station building .
There are different views on the nature of the blast . Deputy Inspector General (DIG) police Khyber Pukhtunkhaw (KPK), Nasir Mahmood Satti, told media persons that the blast had occured inside ammunition Depot of Kabal CTD police station and it was neither suicide attack nor planted blast, but an incident that took place as a result of carelessness in handling of the explosive at the depot.
Despite DIG’s claims, the possibility of a terrorist activity that rocked Kabal CTD police station on Tuesday can not be overruled .
CTD is a front line of Pakistan ‘s security forces and it has been a prime target of the terrorists . In Khyber Pukhtunkhaw (KPK) , terrorists attacked CTD offices in the past also and targeted its employees to revenge their successful operations against banned Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other terrorist organisations.
KPK is prime target of terrorism as it’s close to those areas where terrorists particularly TTP has its strong hold.
In the recent months, TTP had resurfaced in Swat . However, it was driven away by the security forces .
