ISLAMABAD : July 27, 2022. Interior minister, Rana Sanaullah , has disclosed that the federal cabinet discussed imposition of governor rule in Punjab . He made this disclosure while briefing to the media in a press conference held here on Wednesday.
Rana Sanaullah said there would be enough ground for the federal government to impose governor rule in Punjab if the new government of Chaudhary Pervez Elahi bans his entry in the province.
Interior minister had given a statement hinting at imposition of governor rule in Punjab after coming in of Chaudhary Pervez Ealhi and his statement had received harsh reaction from the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI). PTI leader, Fawad Hussain Chaudhary, had warned to Rana Sanaullah to stay away from any such action as it could be counterproductive for the federal government.
Now the discussion on the proposal of imposition of governor rule in Punjab indicates, the federal government was taking the option seriously to counter hostile attitude of the new Punjab government .
Last night , governor Punjab , Balighur Rehman had declined to take oath from Chaudhary Pervez Elahi as chief minister. His denial was probably in reaction to PTI move when its appointed governor Punjab, Umar Sarfraz Cheema had declined to take oath from Hamza Shahbaz as chief minister of Punjab.
Rana Sanaullah said the Supreme Court\s decision in deputy speaker , Dost Mohmmad Mizari’s ruling has added more uncertainty in the country and it was sole cause of Wednesday’s jump in dollar value against the rupee.
US Dollar gained more value against the rupee and pushed it to a unparalleled value of Rs 237 at closing of trade in the currency market on Wednesday.
Rana Sanaullah blamed SCP decision of depreciation in value of the rupee vis a vis dollar and warned to the apex court that its decision of July 26 regarding dismissal of Hamza Shahbaz as chief minister and his government was going to bring more uncertainty in the country.
SCP had dismissed Hamza Shahbaz as chief minister Punjab and declared Chaudhary Pervez Elahi as a winner of July 22, 2022 contest for chief minister Punjab .
RaNA Sanaullah told a questioner that Nawaz Sharif will lead PMLN elections campaign when he comes back.
Later , prime minister, Shahbaz Sharif and Pakistan People Party (PPP) chairman , Bilawal Bhutto , also addressed to the national assembly and lamented that SCP bench which heard case of deputy speaker, Dost Mohammad Mizari, turned down their demand to form a full court to listen the case as it involved entire political system of the country. Bilawal Bhutto made it clear that the ruling parties’ demand of full court was not aimed at pressurizing the apex court .
