LAHORE: Prime minister , Imran Khan, on Tuesday had a meeting with Chaudharys of Gujrat here to enquire about health of ailing Shujaat Hussain.
The prime minister’s meeting has come at a time when both the government and opposition are banking on Pakistan Muslim League (PMLQ) which is more or less a family concern of Chaudharys of Gujrat .
A coupe of weeks ago, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) president , Shahbaz Sharif had held a meeting Chaudharys of Gujrat in Lahore after an hiatus of 23 years. Shahbaz Sharif also had cited Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain’s ailment an apparent reason of his meeting with Chaudhary brothers, but subtle purpose of PMLN chief’s visit to Chaudharys residence in Lahore was political and to seek PMLQ support for no trust move against prime minister , Imran Khan.
Informed sources said Chaudharys were playing on both sides of the wicket. Moonus Elahi, a new political face of Nath of Gujrat, is offering a bold face publically and ensuring prime minister, Imran Khan, that PMLQ was all weather ally of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), but for all other purposes its all inclined to join anti PTI government band if its conditionalities were met.
Reliable sources told NEWSMAN and its sister organisation , Daily DANISHWAR that Chaudharys of Gujrat are ready to say goodby to Imran Khan and join opposition for no confidence move provided they are given two assurances . One they get chief minister slot in Punjab in case the no confidence move sails through and second , the opposition agrees to hold general elections in 2023.
Sources said Shahbaz Sharif had sought time from Chaudharys of Gujrat to take all opposition in confidence over their demands. The PMLN chief would personally convey the opposition’s opinion on their demands once its consultation gets completed.
The Chaudharys are anxiously waiting for Shahbaz Sharif’s response on their demands.
