ISLAMABAD: Alleged video clip of National Assembly Speaker, Asad Qaiser, if proven authentic , would raise many serious questions over the political mindset of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek- e -Insaf (PTI). It can expose entire mantra of the PTI leadership of showing zero tolerance towards culture of corruption in Pakistan. The PTI and prime minister , Imran Khan, are banking on their most trumpeted narrative of “No hand shake with the looters of public money”. Although the public at large is losing interest in the PTI leadership ‘s anti- corruption narrative as their huge number is feeling it hard to keep going through current level of inflation and unbearable price-hike. Inflation and depreciation in value of the rupee have pushed a large number of population in Pakistan under poverty line in the last three and half years tenure of PTI but Imran Khan is still building up his politics on the anti corruption mantra.
Now in the given environment, the alleged speech of Asad Qaiser to the party workers, advising them to use public money to win an election of a Tehsil nazim in Khyber Pukhtunkhaw (KPK) could negate entire PTI’s narrative against corrupt elements. Asad Qaiser is currently holding an important public office that is suppose to be nutral. Imran Khan’s party has tainted past regarding the use of money in politics. In recent past, Amin Gandapure , a federal minister and close political aide to Imran Khan was exposed by a video clip offering money to the voters in the general elections of Azad Jammu Kashmir assembly. The future of PTI now hings on franzik report of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on alleged video clip of Asad Qaiser.
