ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) vice president, Maryam Nawaz, on Thursday warned the government that its any bid to grant extension to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman will get reaction from her party.
Maryam Nawaz was speaking to the media here on Thursday outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Maryam Nawaz said the government seems inclined to grant extension to incumbent NAB chairman and she would warn it that its any attempt to grant any such extension will get sharp reaction from PMLN.
A day before, Pakistan People Party (PPP). chairman, Balawal Bhutto, had announced to go the court in case the government extended tenure or re-appointed NAB chairman.
The government has almost made its mind to give another term of 4 yesr to incumbent chairman who has beem accused by the opposition to have initiated one-sided accountability in his tenure . The opposition strongly believes incumbent NAB chairman was biased towards it and for the same NAB made a number of references against its leader. The long list of jailed opposition leaders including Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Asif Zardari, .Khurshid Shah and dozens other and lack of investigations against the ruling party members supplement opposition’s arguments and confirms NAB was not handling the cases even handedly.
The PMLN leader also bitterlly criticised the government on a number of issues like sky- rocketing price-hike, unemployment and the.proposed electoral reforms. She said the PTI government intends to use the electronic voting machines (EVM) for rigging in the next elections. Maryam Nawaz said the prime minister would have to be answerable for the gifts he got as prime minister during his foreign visits.
The PMLN vice.president said the prices of ghee , sugar,.milk, meat and other edibles have gone out of reach of the low income group and lower middle class.
