Islamabad : Feb 13, 2024: In an important development , the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has nabbed a gang of Passport and Immigration Department , National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) and Pakistani and Afghan nationals allegedly involved in issuance of Pakistani passports to Afghan nationals on fake documents .
The FIA spokesman in a statement issued here on Tuesday said Anti Corruption Circle of Islamabad FIA launched an operation against the gang on the direction of Deputy Director Afzal Khan Niazi. The statement added that those who are arrested for allegedly issuing Pakistani passports to Afghan nationals on fake documents included three assistant directors of Passport and Immigration Department and 4 local facilitators and 5 Afghan nationals . The FIA also arrested 4 officers of NADRA and their agents .
The FIA spokesman said the raiding team led by sub inspector Kashif Riaz and sub inspector Nadeem Awan operated to arrest the gang members. The raiding teams arrested 16 members of the gang from different locations of Islamabad . The spokesman said the accused have given stunning information during probe which can expand investigations to arrest more members of the gang in coming days. The initial investigations indicates the arrested members of the gang are a part of the international racket.
