Finally PM invites dissident group to hear ‘grievances’

ISLAMABAD: The dissident group of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek – e – Insaf (PTI) led by its estranged leader, Jahangir Tareen’ is likely to meet prime minister, Imran Khan, here on Tuesday to convey him its grievances, particularly, with respect to the on-going investigations launched against Jahangir Tareen and his other family members in sugar scam.

Sources told NEWSMAN that dissident group had a meeting at Jahangir Tareen ‘s residence in Islamabad on Monday to finalise agenda for meeting with the prime minister.

The meeting was attended by more than 30 parliamentarians of the ruling party.and it decided to place all circustancial evidences that establish launching of a planned conspiracy against Mr Tareen and his family by a PTi group .

The dissident group will present the prime minister a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) presented by the department to the Lahore High Court (LHC) last week that bailed out Tareen and his business house of any wringdoing in 2020 sugar crisis.

Mr Tareen had been a particular taget of the prime minister’s advisor , Shahzad Akbar, and some other high profile functionaries of the PTI government.

According to NEWSMAN investigations, Mr Tareen has serious doubts that the prime minister’s principal secretary, Azam Khan, and senator Saifullah Khan, a close relative of Imran Khan were spearheading a vicious campaign against him and some other senior party leaders to keep them away from the prime minister.

The dissident group will speak to the prime minister on all thorney issues in detail and demand an end to targetted character assassination of Mr Tareen and other party leaders close to him.

The dissident group will also demand of the prime minister to investigate on whose advice Shahzad Akbar issued directions to FIA and other government departments to focus on Jahangir Tareen ‘s role in last year’s sugar crisis.

“We have serious reservations about Shahzad Akbar’s role vis a vis Jahangir Tareen’s case and would present the whole case to the prime minister for an impartial probe”, a member of Tareen group said when this scribe contacted him by phone for comments on agenda of Tuesday’s meeting with the prime minister.

Tuesday’s meeting and its outcome will set a direction for future politcs of the ruling party.
