Islamabad : The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Sunday increased fixed charges for protected and non-protected categories of the domestic consumers . OGRA formally notified the new gas prices and fixed charges for domestic consumers on June 29,2025. The new charges and notified gas prices for various categories are going to become effective from July 1, 2025.
OGRA in its statement issued to clarify some confusion on new gas rates for various categories noted that the gas prices for domestic sector and tandoors will remain the same as no increase has been made for these categories.
Fixed charges for protected domestic consumers have been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 600. For protected domestic consumers fixed gas charges have been scaled up from Rs 1000 to Rs 1500 . Both domestic consumers categories will pay 50 % additional charges for gas consumption from July 1,2025.
Industrial , commercial and captive power consumers will pay increased gas rates from July 1,2025.
Business leaders and industries have criticised the increase in the gas rates .
The business and industry leaders fear massive increase in gas rates will make their products costlier and leave uncompetitive in global market.
