GB PPP candidate warns party leadership over awarding ticket for GBLA-22 to “Parachute candidate”

Mr Jaffar terms reports of reconciliation with Dr Ashiq as fake

Islamabad : Muhammad Jaffar, a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) ticket aspirant from GBLA-22 (Ghanche-I) has issued a strong warning regarding the party’s ticket distribution, stating that he will not allow any “parachuted candidate” to win if awarded the party ticket.

Speaking informally, Jafar said he expects the party’s senior leadership to grant him the ticket. However, if denied, he will consult with local elders and voters to determine his future political course, emphasizing that he has no intention of withdrawing from field under any circumstances.
He revealed that he stayed in Karachi for a week to meet PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and has already conveyed his concerns to the leadership. The Ex Senior Minister asserted his decades-long loyalty to the party, claiming he has stood with PPP for over 50 years—from the era of General Zia-ul-Haq to General Pervez Musharraf—despite facing pressure to part ways.

Jaffar further said that he has clearly communicated to senior party leader Nayyar Bukhari that introducing and awarding tickets to “parachuters” would lead to very different outcomes. “The party ticket is my right,” he maintained.
Highlighting his local support, he claimed that the people of Ghowari have assured him of their full backing and votes, adding that he possesses a strong personal vote bank and will not disappoint his supporters.

Rejecting circulating reports, Mr Jafar termed the news about Dr. Ashiq attempting to reconcile with him as “fake” and mere propaganda. “No such efforts are being made, nor will I be persuaded under pressure,” he said.
He also noted that he had been contesting elections on his own expense for years, receiving party support only in 2020. Prior to that, he contested independently under self-help efforts. He reiterated his commitment to his voters, vowing not to let them down in upcoming GB elections
