govt likely to sail through in today’s joint session

ISLAMABAD: After an hiatus of two weeks, the government has convened a joint session of the parliament for Wednesday (today) to table at least two most important bills. One regarding the use of electronic voting machine ( EVM,) in next general elections and other for grant of right of vote to overseas Pakistanis.
The government had postponed the joint session of the parliament two weeks ago after guessing that its allies were not onboard and they may not vote in favour of its key bills for law making.
The opposition had expressed its joy over the government decision of postponing the joint sitting and termed it as a defeat to the treasury benches. However, the government remained focused and its hawkish held regular meetings with the allies to convince them that the law making on EVM and right to vote to overseas Pakistanis was a national cause.
The government trouble shooters are confident that they were going to get required number of votes to get the bills regarding EVM and right of vote to overseas Pakistanis cleared in today’s joint session.
If the government sails through today’s session for getting passed listed bills, it will get big political boost to put more pressure on the fragile opposition. In other case, it will lose the confidence of the house . Though there is very little chance that the opposition will block the government crucial bills , but something and everything is possible in politics. The defeat to the government in today’s joint session of the parliament can force it to go for the new elections.
After bagging confidence of the allies , the government is likely to sail through in today’s joint session.
