Govt announces to table half-cooked proposed 27th constitutional amendment bill in senate today

Opposition announces to resiste 'devastating' proposed amendments in constitution

Islamabad : The parliamentary standing committees have okayed 27th constitutional amendment bill 2025 and its being tabled in the senate on
Monday . However , reservations of the various political parties remained unaddressed.

The special committee of the parliament on Sunday announced that it has finalised its job of clearing the proposed bill aimed at major changes in the constitution , but in practical , the special committee decided to close its working on the proposed bill without any consensus. Basically , the special committee of the parliament headed by senator Farooq H Niak of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Law minister , Azam Nazir Tarar , seemed in unnecessary haste to announce that the special committee of the parliament has okayed the proposed bill for 27th amendment in the constitution. The committee , in fact, has failed to create concensus even within its ranks. Many allies of the government remained disagreed on major amendments , leaving the bill highly controversial .

The opposition has already boycotted the proceedings of the special parliamentary committee. Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) remained absent from the proceedings of the committee for the second day on Sunday. Nominated opposition leader in the national assembly , Mahmood Khan Achekzai, late in the evening announced to resist the amendment in and outside the parliament . Speaking to the media , Mr Achekzai noted that the proposed bill for 27th amendment in the constitution was an attack on the base of the country.

Senator Ali Zafar of PTI warmed the ruling parties of devastating impact of the proposed amendments recommended in 27th constitutional bill 2025. He said the proposed amendments could be extremely dangerous for the state of Pakistan. Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar opposed the amendments in toto and warned to the government that the proposed amendments will cause irreparable loss to the country. Prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , is making last ditch efforts to create consensus on the proposed amendment. For this purpose , he hosted dinner for the senators of the allies parties of the government to address their reservations.
