Islamabad . Updated at 10.25: Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Saturday said at least 7 persons died in hailstorms, lightening and heavy rains in different cities of Pakistan.
PDMA also issued a weather update after Saturday’s hailstorms and rains wherein the people should refrain from exposing themselves to hailstorms and heavy rains . PDMA added that the people should stay inside houses to avoid risk to their lives in hailstorms and rains.
A strong thunder and hailstorm hit Northern parts of Pakistan as well as twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi again. On Saturday , at around 1 PM sky turned cloudy and in no time powerful hailstorm and rains took over the shinny noon.
Pakistan ‘s upper northern region and twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have witnessed two similar spells of hailstorms and rains in the last around one month.
Pakistan’s Weather Department had predicted hailstorms and heavy rains for today. According to the weather prediction, rains and partly hailstorms could continue for the next three days.
Pakistan was having scorching heatwave for the last a few days and sudden jump in hot weather was causing heat strokes and other related diseases among the people.
The doctors had advised to the people to stay inside their houses and not expose themselves to the scorching heatwave.
The hailstorm and rains have cooled down summer heat in upper region of the country ,brining relief to the people from extreme summer heat.
Pakistan is among those countries which are exposed to the climate change for the last few years. Its resulting in melting of glaciers that cause flash floods particularly in its mountainous parts.
Being badly affected by the climate changes , Pakistan is bearing huge losses in terms of erosion of landscapes , seasonal crops , animals and in some cases human beings. Pakistan government is pleading its case at global forums to seek financial support to mitigate impacts of dangerously rising risks of climate changes.
