QUETTA: After nine years , Balochistan had local body elections on Sunday. A vast majority of the voters used its right of votes to elect local body representatives Holding of peaceful local body elections in Balochistan is a great achievement of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the provincial government which made flawless arrangements for security of the voters across Balochistan. The security departments including the Rangers , Police and others ensured peaceful environment to the voters to use their right of vote across the province.
According to the unofficial results , independent candidates stole the show as they won vast majority in local body elections in Balochistan . Till filing these reports , 1060 candidate won across Balochistan . Among the political parties which were in the run for local body elections in the province, Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazal !JUI-F) bagged 100 seats, Balochistan National Party (BNP) won 88 seats, Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) won 68 seats, Pakistan People Party !(PPP) secured 26 seats. Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) bagged 10 seats.
Farah Azeem Shah, spokesperson of Balochistan government, on Sunday briefed media persons on the outcome of local body elections held in the province on May 29, 2022. She said that the people of Balochistan have rejected a handful agents of the foreign forces and participated in local body elections with great interest.
The Balochistan had local bodies elections after nine years .
The spokesperson of Balochistan government said over all turn over in Balochistan local body elections remained 60 % which showed unprecedented participation of the people of Balochistan in local body elections. She said despite threats from the banned outfits, the voters turned out to the polling stations across Balochistan to elect their local body representatives . She said chief minister Balochistan Abdul Qadoos Bazinjo , had directed to the concerned departments to ensure transparent, free and fair local body elections in the province . Farah Shah rejected allegations leveled against Balochistan government regarding local body elections. She said the accusations of wrong doings in the local body elections were of mere political nature and totally unfounded .
