JEDDAH (Saudi Arabia) : A ceremony was organized by the National Solidarity Forum in Jeddah in honor of renowned Pakistani investor Chaudhry Shafqat Mahmood. The Pakistani community in Jeddah and officers of the Jeddah Consulate attended the national solidarity ceremony in large numbers when Chaudhry Shafqat Mahmood received the Son of Pakistan Award from the Spokesperson International Award in London. Addressing the ceremony,
Chaudhry Shafqat thanked the Solidarity Forum and the participants he said, that it has always been my wish that Pakistanis from Saudi Arabia and all over the world send so much foreign exchange to Pakistan that Pakistan does not have to borrow from the IMF or any other country. He said that Pakistanis all over the world love their homeland immensely and just as the borders of this country are strong under the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir, similarly our economy should also be strong so that we can live with our heads held high in the world economically. Be it the Kashmir issue or any other issue, the world should listen to us.
Shafqat Mahmood said that the award from the London organization has given me more encouragement in the work done for my homeland. I am happy that the National Solidarity Forum in which all political and other forums are member organized a ceremony in my honor, I believe that this Son of Pakistan Award is not only for me but for all Pakistanis living in Saudi Arabia. Addressing the ceremony, National solidarity Forum Convener Riaz Bukhari said that Shafqat Mahmood’s services to the community and Pakistan need neither any introduction nor any award. We are proud that he was given the award.
He demanded of the Pakistan Consulate to request the government of Pakistan to give an official award to a son of Pakistan like Shafqat Mahmood.
The ceremony was addressed by former federal minister Chaudhry Shahbaz Hussain, Chaudhry Muhammad Akram, Taswer Chaudhry, Mushahid Raza Gujjar, Engineer Arif Mughal, and the Consul General was represented by Muhammad Irfan from the Jeddah Consulate.
