ISLAMABAD: A judicial inquiry commission (JIC) submitted a report to the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) on September 25, 2020 wherein it held the security breach main cause of deadly attack on APS on December 16, 2014.
A group of organized terrorists had attacked APS, Peshawar in December 2014 and killed 125 students and teaching staff, besides seriously injuring dozens others.
The attack shocked the whole world, which strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attack on innocent students and teaching staff of Peshawar APS.
Then government had constituted a JIC for investigation and recommend action against those who were responsible of lapse in security and other necessary arrangements required for protection of the school children following a NECTA alert of possible terrorist attack on schools in Peshawar.
JIC on Friday informed the apex court in its report that it were the security personnel who did not respond to the danger posed by terrorist to the lives of innocent students and teaching staff of APS.
It added had the security personnel responded swiftly to the terrorists the loss of lives of the students and teaching staff would have been much lesser. The report said if the enemy comes from within its very difficult to foil such terrorists attacks.
The report calls upon for exemplary punishment to all those who were responsible of security breach and allowing terrorist to go for killing spree in APS, Peshawar. According to the report, the terrorist entered into the school premises from the rare wall of the building without any resistance because the guard and security remained unmoved despite killings of the innocent students and teaching staff.
The terrorists kept on spraying the bullets on the school children and teaching school who so ever came in sight for two hours. During this deadly attack duration the school security did not counter the assailants at all.
The apex court was informed by the attorney general that action was being taken all those no matter how high ranking he was and the responsible will be held accountable.
Chief Justice, Gulzar Ahmad, directed the attorney general to file the reply of the federal government on JIC report. He also accepted invitation of the parents of victims of the APS attack for joining them at anniversary on December 16, 2020.
