Like Kakar his cabinet also turns mysterious for bewildered nation

ISLAMABAD : August 16, 2023: After mysterious showcasing of Mr Anwaarul Haq Kakar, a comparatively less known politician from Balochistan, now his cabinet has become a new mystery for Pakistanis who are left to moan under killing price-hike.
No one in the power corridors or political circles can say with authority who is going to become a cabinet member of Mr Kakar . But there is an impression that the caretaker prime minister will try to rein in his powers with a comparatively a small cabinet.

In recent past, Pakistan has witnessed jumbo cabinets. Recall Imran Khan’s cabinet it was jumbo in size and in many of his ministers had no offices to sit as they were not given portfolios till the last day of PTI rule. Imran Khan had appointed more than 50 percent ministers of his cabinet on purely political consideration.

Then came Shahbaz Sharif’s turn. Since Sharifs believe in pump and show to show to the poor rather hungry Pakistani nation look we are as grand as Mughals. The only difference between Mughals who ruled India for centuries and Sharifs of Lahore is that the formers do not had to come across a nuclear army and Sharifs do have to face a powerful military who think its their job to tress pass in everything and ‘guide’ to elected government in every matter when and wherever necessary. Sharifs, however, do show their metal whenever get chance to compete with Mughals and size of cabinet in their views could be the best thing to show their prodigal and imperialistic nature. Giving a new touch to this mental approach, Shahbaz Sharif remained unsatisfied even reaching close to century of his cabinet size in his 16-month rule.

Shahbaz Sharif.s 60 percent cabinet members do not have any division or ministry to take office and show their skill to promote VVIP culture and live a luxurious life at the cost of taxes extorted from the poor who in majority of the cases do not have two meal a day.

Mr Kakar may not be lucky enough to have a ballooned cabinet like Imran Khan and Shahbaz Sharif as he is a caretaker and not a full time prime minister of Pakistan. He, however, will be happy to enjoy his position as a caretaker which he might have not ever thought of. He has to live with a small cabinet as Mohsin Naqvi has set a pattern of a 9-member cabinet to deliver to a populist province of Punjab better than once relative –pervez Elahi. Mohsin Naqvi’s skill to administer a province with a 9-member cabinet is going to be a model for incoming caretaker federal cabinet. Hence, its believed that those who tossed Anwaarul Haq Kakar to the post of a caretaker prime minister may allow him to have a 12 to 15 member cabinet.
