Peshawar – A tragic accident occurred near Tunnel No,3 of the Swat Motorway in Malakand, where a speeding truck lost control, crashed into the sidewall, and overturned.The horrifying crash resulted in the deaths of 15 people and left 8 others injured.A large number of the deceased were women and children.
Upon receiving the report, Rescue 1122 Malakand’s medical teams rushed to the site and, together with Motorway Police, launched a joint rescue operation.The teams successfully retrieved the injured and deceased from the wreckage and shifted them to DHQ Hospital Batkhela.
According to sources, four of the injured were in critical condition and were later transferred to a hospital in Swat for advanced medical care.
Preliminary reports suggest that the victims belonged to the Gabrial area of Bahrain Tehsil, Swat. The deceased were reportedly members of a nomadic family engaged in seasonal migration.
CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced, showing the truck moving at an extremely high speed before losing control and hitting the sidewall, which led to the fatal overturning.
A Rescue 1122 Malakand spokesperson confirmed the tragic incident, stating that the timely response of rescue teams helped prevent further loss of life despite the severity of the crash.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, focusing on factors such as driver negligence, brake failure, or overspeeding.
The tragedy has cast a pall of grief over the region, with local residents expressing deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives.
